WOOD PANELLING

case study: FRENCH POLISHING SAWSTON

Project

The wood panelling we think was a later addition to the hall and dated back no later then the victorian period. Some of the original wood panels were removed and new sections of oak were installed. We were left to colour match and french polish the new panels. The process was achieved with a selection of wood stains, french polish and wax. We first built up colour which matched the original and then multiple layers of french polish were used applied using a rubber and eventually we then built up many coats of antique wax to provide some depth. This proved to mimic the original rather well.
