A Pair of Ebonised Armchairs

A pair of ebonised armchairs designed by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, manufactured by Morris & Co.

Rush seats with turned front legs and hay bail backs.

Rossetti apparently owned a very similar type of chair to these models, which may have led him to use it as a starting point for the Sussex style chairs, which Morris and Co later commissioned.
